Violent stalker set up a Match.com profile with my email address
Last night I learned that match.com does not have 2 step authentication for their data in the grossest possible way.
I have NEVER had a match.com account. I did NOT sign up for match.com. But, that didn't stop MY STALKER from opening up a match profile with my email address.
I started getting hundreds of messages from strange men all over the United States.
Just to illustrate how harmful match.com's lax security is: I have a restraining order against my stalker, as he is a mentally ill, violent man, who has already been to jail for assaulting other women.
In addition to enabling the man who is trying to harm me to troll me online, match.com's lax security also put many of their paying clients at risk, as my stalker immediately started up catfishing conversations with men who paid extra to have the "free conversation" perk.
One of the men--who I will call "J"-- who was unaware that he was talking to a violent man online and NOT the woman in the profile picture, gave his full name, home town, & HIS HOME PHONE NUMBER to my stalker who was pretending to be me.
In his message to my stalker, "J" also revealed that his father had JUST DIED. As in the funeral is TODAY. So my *** dangerous stalker was setting up "J," a grieving man, at possibly the most vulnerable point in his life, to aid in his online attack on me.
Because match.com allows anyone to set up a profile with any email address, this poses a huge danger to every customer, as well as anyone who has an email address.
There are incredibly bad physical, psychological, & financial consequences that come from match.com's lack of data security.
I have had to waste 4 hours of my life dealing with match.com & I don't even use their service.
I don't know how match.com hasn't been sued for being the perfect conduit for fraud. Maybe someone has to be murdered before they fix their identification protocols.
Reason of review: Massive Security Breach.
Match Cons: Tool for sexual predators, Catfishing, No data security.
