Match.com gouch their customers

I joined match.com and in order to get a price break I paid for a 6 month subscription. I was on the service for 2-3 weeks and met someone and took it offline. I did not continue to use the service, so in short they collected 5 months for free. After 6 months was over I was unaware there was an automatic autorenewal policy and they dinged me for another 6 months. When I called they decided that they could give a partial refund but would have to charge the full one month subscription price of $51 which was 2/3 of the 6 month price. Then they expected me to right a positive review. Be careful and make sure you cancel and double check. #ScamArtists #HateVultures

NO refunds... EVER!

Feb. 2107 - Match.com USED to have a box to NOT auto renew. They got rid of it w/ no notice, and now EVERYONE is auto renewed! AND NO REFUNDS! BUYER BEWARE! I signed up for a 6 month, 1/2 price deal for $60. At sign up, I selected "do not auto renew" on the website. They have my credit card info. Cut to yesterday - Apparently that option is gone now?!? No notice of that disappearing! HUH?! The initial recording when you call says that ALL customers are auto renewed. Well, that's new!?! I called the day of my expiration to make sure that they would not renew me (double checking)... They had already charged my credit card full price for another 6 months! They offer no refunds... Never EVER! Also when I explained that they ignored my do not renew request, they didn't care/listen/acknowledge that they removed that option w/o notice. I asked to speak to a supervisor. They read some mumbo jumbo off of a script. During the 1/2 hour call, I asked 10 times (at least)for a supervisor or manager. Finally I asked for a "yes/no answer". She said NO. She would not connect me to a supervisor?!? I called back to try another rep with the same results! What reputable company doesn't allow you to speak to a supervisor? None in my lifetime until yesterday!!! I have contacted my credit card company to file a dispute. I don't think that will help since Match.com is unreasonable. For Match, I think that since I will NEVER use this site again and therefore they lose future revenue, that it is a bad practice to ignore the customer AND rip them off. NO REFUNDS EVER. NO PARTIAL REFUNDS EITHER (say if you found your spouse or something)...??? 100's of complaints about 0 refunds like mine online! Who is buying this service after the initial trial? Match charges you without your knowledge or notification! This is unethical at least and illegal is more likely. (IN CA you have auto renewal rights - google it!) They supposedly offer a "match guarantee" to find someone, which must be a joke. They won't give you anything!? p.s. I'd also spoken to a rep early on in my subscription to confirm that they would NOT renew me automatically. The rep said that they would NOT. HA! BOTTOM LINE = If you have Match.com, call them a week before the end of your subscription to cancel renewing AND ask for a cancellation Authorization confirmation number and to email it, to back you up! Good luck. Better yet, change your credit card on file to an old/expired number which is a closed account. Let them try to charge a DOA account! Grrrrrr!

My elderly father in law had a subscription but they were sending him matches that did not fit with his profile. When I noticed a $101.94 charge on his credit card, I asked him if he still uses the site. He explained why he does not. I called Match to get the charge...

It doesn't matter what box you click.

Match will steal your money and there is nothing you can do.

Stay away from this Off shore ripoff business.

The Texas office is a front for the typical Asian scammers that always pray on the U.S.

There are plenty of free sites that do the same thing Match does.

You can be lied to for free or pay for it:)

Scam

I was looking for a man that I could spend the rest of my life with, I thought I had found him till he started asking for money he was from Georgia and then he went to Africa he had the money to go over there but didn't have the money to come back home on, so he started asking me for money along the way he wound up in the hospital and he didn't have the money to pay the bill so he looked at me, he kept telling me he had no one and he was an only child, I am also an only child but I do not have anyone to help me out either. He took me for around $15000. I would like Match to look into this matter and get back to me. I want my money back. His profile name was Blue Johnny he was from Altanta Georgia.

That's awful, I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I don't think it's likely that he was actually from Georgia, it's far more likely he was based in Africa. Scams from Africa, India, etc are common.

I would consult a lawyer about whether match.com has culpability.

They may at least be required to cooperate with a criminal investigation, if a law enforcement agency would be willing to launch one.

They should at least be alerted about the scam, they need to know what is being done to their citizens.

I would also write to a paper with invesitgative powers, NYTimes etc.

They may not be able to do anything to help you, but the more specific stories they hear, the more likely that they can press for future steps to be taken to reduce this kind of thing. Good luck, all the best.

Pissed

Every match I got from you wanted money. I am poor as a church mouse and I am not to happy either. This last match that I contacted back in March kept asking for money. I do not have it and will not have it. He made me go get payday loans and I do not have the money to pay them back with, he made me put up my title for my car and now I'm looking at loosing it. His name was Blue Johnny from Altanta Georgia, the other state he is associated with is Maryland. He kept telling me he was an only child and he didn't have no one well I don't have anyone period I have a son but he doesn't care about me. I suggest you find the ones that are true blue.

NEVER EVER!!!!!

I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN MATCH.COM, AND IT MIGHT BE JUST ME, BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALLY SPENT MUCH TIME THERE. BUT WHAT HAPPENED NEXT WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. FIRST OF ALL, WHEN YOU SIGN UP, THEY NEVER SHOW YOU THAT YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WILL BE RENEWED AUTOMATICALLY, SO YOU WILL GET AN UNEXPECTED CHARGE. AFTER DELETING THE ACCOUNT, I ASKED FOR THE FULL REFUND, AS I DIDN'T USE THE APP AND I NO LONGER WISH TO CONTINUE USING IT, I WAS TOLD BECAUSE I'M CALLING THE NEXT DAY AFTER I WAS CHARGED, IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT I DIDN'T USE IT, OR I DIDN'T SIGH ANYWHERE THAT I WISH FOR RENEWAL, I WILL STILL NOT ABLE TO GET THE FULL REFUND. AFTER COUPLE CALLS AND COUPLE CONVERSATIONS I COULDN'T GET ANYWHERE WITH IT. SO AT LEAST I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET A PARTIAL REFUND. BUT GUESS WHAT, A MONTH LATER I WAS STILL WAITING FOR THE REFUND, AT LEAST PARTIAL. AFTER CONTACTING THEM AGAIN, THEY TOLD ME I REFUSED THE PARTIAL REFUND... WHICH DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE... I WILL CONTINUE FIGHTING WITH THEM, I WILL ALSO CALL MY BANK TO MAKE SURE THEY SUPPORT ME ON THIS MATTER. BUT.. WHAT I WOULD TELL YOU, JUST MAKE SURE TO READ COMMENTS AND REVIEWS ABOUT THE WEB SITE AND APP ONLINE, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED AND SURPRISED THAT THIS TYPE OF SCHEME STILL EXISTS!!!

TOTAL CROOKS!!!

Tried to cancel my membership, apparently wasn't successful, was charged with auto renewal, tried to get refund and was refused. I signed up with a 3 month membership. Auto renewal was set up. About 2 weeks prior to the renewal, I cancelled what I thought was the membership but apparently I didn't do it correctly. The same day I received email notification I had been charged, I contacted them, with the intent of explaining the mistake and trying to cancel and get my money back because I was not interested in paying for a membership for another 3 months, but they are not open on weekends (which is not mentioned anywhere on their website). I called the following Monday and was told they refuse to refund me due and a strict no refund after auto renewal is drafted policy. I asked for higher ups to speak to and was still refused. They said the best they could do is refund me for 2 months since my membership has been active for 3 days. I had been trying to contact them since the day I was aware I was charged and had no control over the fact they are closed on weekends. After they completely cancelled my account, per my request, I said they cannot charge me for 30 days of a service I am not using and they still refused. In addition to the refusal of my refund, the customer service people are the most absurdly rude people I have ever spoken to. It is illegal to charge a person for a service that is not being received, it is a breach of contract. This company should be shut down!! Their website is entirely too confusing when it comes to cancelling a membership which is why they are making money on people because the same thing is happening.

Match - Review in Media category

They automatically renewed my subscription for three months at a fee of $104.94. I had no indication that this was going to happen since I had previously been a member for a three-month time. And did not get an automatic renewal. I spoke to a representative and two supervisors all program to say the same thing NO REFUND It was only renewed seven days ago at a ridiculously escalated rate. I explain to them over and over again that I could not afford it and that the money was taken out of my checking account which was to be my grocery money for the week. A company that supposed to care about making people happy didn't care that a young woman wasn't going to be able to eat for the next four days until the next paycheck. Oh and by the way, I did not meet Anyone worth my time. Stay away from Match!

Match.com is a rip off

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They auto enroll you into a yearly membership when you sign up for 1 month. I would never recommend this to anyone as long as I live. I called several times and tried to be connected to their management company and kept getting told they wouldn't reimburse my $240. They are worthless to deal with and dishonest. Who conducts business that way and still stays in business? Steer clear and learn from my mistakes- they are all thieves. NOT to be trusted ever again. Would rather be single - what a joke they are. Lousy company for sure.

Auto renew SCAM and Rip-off!

I signed on for the service in April 2016. One month later, I met someone (not on this site, which seems to only have inactive members). Since I already knew how sneaky match.com is with their auto-renewals, I wanted to make sure I don't get charged again in 6 months, so I MADE A POINT to IMMEDIATELY CANCEL my subscription. I KNEW I needed to do this to not get charged again. So, I cancel, I believe it was May 17, and never logged back in since a) I was now in a relationship, and b) I thought it was all taken care of. Then this morning I got a notice in my email saying I was charged again for the next 6 months. WHAT?? So I called their consumer complaint hotline and they have the audacity to tell me that I reactivated my account a few days after I canceled it. I DIDN'T. I NEVER logged back onto the site, much less reactivated it, and I know this for a fact. That's a blatant lie and I'm really, really mad. I'm even more mad that they're only offering me a "partial" refund, even after I told them that this is fraud, that I never reactivated it. I mean, how convenient for them, right? Just blame it on the consumer that she "reactivated" and still pocket half of the payment. On top of it, most members on the site are not active, and I didn't get one date out of it, when I never had any issues on other dating sites. If you value your money and actually want to date, STAY AWAY!!!!! It's a scam! Not only did I waste my money to begin with, now I feel like they unlawfully pocketed my money while refusing to work with me on getting a full refund. ESPECIALLY considering I contacted them the same day they charged me. I can't remember the last time I wrote a negative review. But this is the worst customer service I've ever encountered.

MATCH.COM SUCKS

Match.com is forcing me to pay 60.00 for a time that I will not be using the account and the account has been cancelled. I made a 3 month purchase in July. Match.com automatically renewed the subscription without my knowledge and charged me for the following next 3 months without me knowing. When I received my bank statement 10 days later I noticed the charge, called to cancel my account IMMEDIATELY and to ask them for a partial refund or something prorated for the time that I would not be using the account and they refused. Both representatives I spoke with were insanely rude saying that I should have know according to a clause that is lost in their terms of agreement. I was furious by the time I got off the phone and still being charged for over 2 3/4 of a months of a service that I have cancelled and deactivated.

Match - Membership Review from Vallejo, California

WARNING!!!! DO NOT USE MATCH!!!! Save your money. Initially the selection in my area looked great, then reality hit after I signed up.... the great selection was gone. The guys didn't look anything like the inital profiles in my original search when I wasn't a paid member..... In addition, they charge you again when your membership is up. You have to go through the cancellation process and not assume just because you pay for six months that it ends. Match use to be good back in the day but now there are too many options to choose from. THUMBS DOWN FOR MATCH!!!
